After a few-year hiatus, HFES-GT is back and better than ever!
Georgia Tech’s mission of “progress and service” goes hand in hand with the mission of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES), which is “to advance the science and practice of designing for people in systems through knowledge exchange, collaboration, and advocacy.” The human Factors field is incredibly multidisciplinary; therefore, as of Fall 2022, HFES has decided to take our organization’s mission and share it with all students at Georgia Tech. We want to ensure that graduate and undergraduate students from all backgrounds and majors at Georgia Tech could benefit from participating in our organization’s events. There is representation from students in Industrial Design, Engineering, Psychology, Business, Computing, and more.
By sharing the mission of HFES with all students on campus, we will create opportunities to network and facilitate research collaborations between different departments on campus. Georgia Tech is one of the best universities in the world. I hope the research inspired by the multidisciplinary collaboration and networking between students who share a common interest will lead to discoveries that will inform the design of safe, user-friendly, ethical, and accessible technology.
